This Privacy Policy is meant to help you understand how we collect, use, protect or otherwise handle your Personally Identifiable Information in accordance with our website.

What personal information do we collect, and how do we use your information?

We do not automatically collect personally identifiable information when you visit our website. We only collect information when you voluntarily submit your information in the two following events:

– When you subscribe to our mailing list, your email address, together with the IP address of the computer you subscribe from,  will be recorded in our database. This is for the sole purpose that we send you monthly communications regarding new commentaries. When you unsubscribe, these information will be automatically removed from our database.

– When you fill out the comment form from the commentary post page or Guest book, your name, email address, website address(optional), together with your comment will be recorded. When your comment is approved by the Club organizers, your name and comment will be posted on our website. Your email address is only used for communications by the organizers and will not be posted.

How do we protect your information?

Our website is scanned on a regular basis for security holes and known vulnerabilities in order to make your visit to our site as safe as possible.

Your personal information is encrypted in a database and contained behind secured networks. It  is only accessible by the system administrators who have special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential. In addition, all communications between your web browser and our web server are encrypted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology.

Do we use ‘cookies’?

Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer’s hard drive through your Web browser (if you allow) that enables the site’s or service provider’s systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information.

The cookies we use are
– a standard WordPress session cookie, which stores information in the form of a session identification that does not personally identify the user, and is not retained after the browser is closed;
– cookies to save user login information, currently only available, and therefore relevant to web administrators.

You may choose to turn cookies off from your browsers, and it won’t affect the user’s experience to our website.

Do we share your information?

We do not disclose or share your information with any other parties,  except they are requested by law enforcement agencies in compliance with applicable laws.

Disclaimer on third-party plugins and trackers

Our website is based on WordPress framework (https://wordpress.org), which uses several third-party plugins to provide additional functionalities and/or to improve performance. We also use Google Analytics to monitor the web traffic. These third-parties may collect your information when you visit our website. They have their own privacy policies regarding personal information collection and sharing, which may be different from ours.

– Akismet Anti-Spam, to identify and filter spam comments. Akismet collects and analyzes your comment data to determine whether it is a regular comment or a spam. Please check their detailed privacy policy available at https://akismet.com/privacy/.

– Google ReCaptcha, to prevent unauthorized logins and spam comments from automatic software. ReCAPTCHA collects personal information from users to make determination of whether they’re human and not a bot. Please check Google’s privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy/.

– Google Analytics, to monitor the web traffic. Google Analytics also collects user information such as demographics, locations, computer OS & browser type, and network information, using a persistent cookie stored in user’s browser. Please check Google’s privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy/.

You may opt out from Google Analytics by installing a browser add-on from https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Currently there are no explicit methods to opt out from Akismet and Google ReCaptcha data collection. However, they are only used when you fill out comment forms. You may choose to send your comment directly to the Club organizers to avoid
your information being collected by Akismet and Google ReCaptcha plugins.
